I did not vote for Barak Hussein Obama for a hundred and one reasons. His being black is not one of them.
I heard Carl Rove use a term on television the other night that I had never heard before: “post-race.” He used it to describe younger generations of Americans who simply do not think in racial terms. In other words, they would no more refuse to vote for a man because he’s black than they would because he prefers Coke to Pepsi.
That’s where I am. |

Darkened Homes and Harvest Parties |

Do we give the devil a victory when we hide from Halloween? I came across this article on the subject of Christians and Halloween, and pass it along for your consideration...
The Enemy's Victory: Darkened Homes and Harvest Parties By Andy Freeman
I realize this column is going to bring down the wrath of Preacher, teacher, and parent alike. But someone has to break the illusion. Here goes. |

Ray Boltz and His Sexually Confused Generation |
Someone coined the term "The Greatest Generation" to describe the men and women who fought the Second World War and launched America into a prosperity unlike any the world had ever known.
Alas, for all their greatness they raised what could be arguably the most morally confused generation; and you can only imagine the kids that generation and the next are now raising. The latter, like their parents, decide right from wrong based on feelings -- a notoriously fickle and unreliable aribter of morality.

As a child, I was blessed to grow up in church, and that is precisely where I met someone who would prove to be a significant part of my part to this very day and I am sure, for the rest of my life.
He is my best friend, Mike.
Which brings me to the story I want to share with you.
We met at church when we were no more than ten or eleven years old. That, incidentally, is the age my daughter is now -- and I often wonder if any of the friends she now has, at least one of whom she has known since they were newborns in the church nursery, will be as close as Mike and I are as adults. |

Pastor Arrested In Illegal Snake Bust |
The pastor of a Kentucky church that handles snakes in religious rites was among 10 people arrested by wildlife officers in a crackdown on the venomous snake trade.
More than 100 snakes, many of them deadly, were confiscated in the undercover sting after Thursday's arrests, said Col. Bob Milligan, director of law enforcement for Kentucky Fish and Wildlife.
Most were taken from the Middlesboro home of Gregory James Coots, including 42 copperheads, 11 timber rattlesnakes, three cottonmouth water moccasins, a western diamondback rattlesnake, two cobras and a puff adder.
Which brings up this ethical question...
Is it morally wrong to break the law to smuggle illegal snakes to use in your church service?
I mean, really… wouldn’t a regular old rattlesnake do? Do you really need a giant puff adder? |

When The Bible Becomes Reviled |
In Matthew 10:22, Jesus, while giving instructions to the twelve disciples who would lead the church following His ascension, said, “And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake ….”
Jesus knew that His followers would be routinely criticized for furthering the gospel and adhering to the tenets of God’s Word. His words are certainly relevant today, as Christians are increasingly disparaged and mocked for living faithfully according to the Bible.
This week, WorldNetDaily.com reported that a homosexual man has brought suit against two Christian publishers, Zondervan and Thomas Nelson, alleging that the Bibles they publish violate his constitutional rights and cause him emotional pain because they say homosexuality is a sin. |
